Thankful Hearts, Calm Days

The holidays are full of excitement and sometimes, big feelings. New faces, busy schedules, and changes in routine can be overwhelming for little ones who rely on predictability to feel secure.

This season, focus on thankfulness and connection as your anchor.
When children know what to expect, they can enjoy new experiences without feeling stressed. That’s part of Maximize Love, Manage Stress one of The Basics principles.

Here are a few ways to help your child stay grounded and grateful:
Keep one or two familiar routines, like story time or snack time, consistent each day.
Talk about plans together: “After we eat, we’ll visit Grandma.”
Name the feeling when things don’t go as expected: “It’s hard when we have to wait, but we can take a deep breath together.”
Share gratitude out loud: “I’m thankful for spending time with you.”

Gratitude, calm, and connection don’t just make the season brighter, they build the strong emotional foundation every child needs to thrive.
