Everyday Moments Matter – Especially On the Go
May Everyday Moments
Life doesn’t slow down when you have young children. The everyday moments you’re already living – running errands, stopping at the park, waiting in line, or driving between places – are full of opportunities to build your child’s brain. When you read, talk, and play during these “on-the-go” moments, you’re helping your child learn language, problem-solving, and social skills without adding anything extra to your day. Even small interactions – counting apples in the grocery cart, noticing what’s the same or different at the park, or talking about what you see on a walk – help your child make sense of the world.
May is a powerful reminder of how connected we all are. During Mental Health Awareness Month and Teacher Appreciation Week, we celebrate the adults who care for, teach, and support children – and that includes you. When you take a moment to connect, laugh, and engage with your child, you’re not just teaching skills – you’re building a strong, supportive relationship that protects their mental health and helps them feel safe and confident. You don’t need more time – you just need to use the moments you already have. Those everyday interactions truly matter.
